Walking...is this why I'm able to maintain weight loss?
Because I live in NY, I probably walk about 1 - 2 miles every day (just going to and from work, etc). Sometimes I walk longer but because I consider this my normal daily activity, I don't count it in my workout section, though I think it's understood that walking is SO good for you and keeps you somewhat physically and mentally fit. I went away over the 4th of July and I was surprised to remember how little walking I do when I'm out of the city. My walking consists of garage, parking lot, parking lot, parking lot, parking lot, garage. A little walking on the beach, but significantly less than what I do on a daily basis. I've often read how you can get more walking in simply by parking your car further away, taking the stairs when you can, etc. I, of course, didn't follow any of this advice and I'm just wondering: did I gain a couple pounds because I walked fewer steps? I'm sure it contributed to my July 4th.
A side note about the
calorie wiki: something that will be coming very soon is the ability to add foods to my favorites so that you don't have to update every day. Along with other things, this will make it very easy if you prefer this method...
