I'm surprised how quickly I lost 2" off my hips when I started jogging, so that gets my vote.

up the intensity of your cardio and find a good weight routine for your lower body. Also, listen to the poster that said to jump rope.

Just keep exercising and eating right-when you lose weight you will lose inches, slowly, everywhere. You cannot spot reduce!

you also want to work your upper body like crazy. This is helpful for a couple reasons- first of all you always want to balance a workout all over your body. It also helps to build muscle up top to offset any muscle gain down below. you'll look and feel better.

Lots of cardio to burn off the fat, but then do squats and lunges to help sculpt and tone.

For my bum, nothing has worked better than just climbing stairs...it was easy for me because I worked in a 24-story building so I had daily access! And when you climb, make sure that you're focusing on your glutes and really pushing with your heels (clench your butt muscles and you'll see that your thighs will work in conjunction with your bum). Squats will also really help. But other posters are right...you can't spot reduce, though you can tone. Beware with the tummy that if you work your core, you'll gain muscle but I've noticed it tends to pooch out the stomach...that's where walking/running/getting your heart rate up will help.

Treadmill - Walk
At your pace of anywhere between 3.8 to 4.5 MPH
For over 20 minutes (I go 40) - after 20 minutes you start to burn fat
Walk at an incline - do the hill
Outside - Walk
30 - 60 minutes
Walk at a swift pace - wear an mp3 to keep a pace and a beat so you don't slow down
Elliptical - Try the hills on a low resistance ( I do foothills on 2 for 35 minutes)

Run for atleast 40mins at a steady pace , only walk if you cant run its simple you burn fat quicker by running than you do walking , try adding in some high tempo aerobics once a week and run 4 times a week . like other have said you cant lose fat off a specific area as your body eats into the most fatty parts of your body,

The exercises that leave you hot, sweaty, and exhausted are the ones that work best!

riding bikes up hill lets me feel the burn in butt and thighs!
question: when a fitness instructor tells u to squeeze ur butt on the way up from a squat, how the hell do you do that?? cuz i cant clench my butt when my back thighs are extended...

I would recommend adding some swimming in that mix. you use your core to maintain your balance in the water, and it has 0 impact. lunges and squats are good, but if you have joint problems that might be a challenge.

I have lost weight and my experience is that the fat loss is not equally in different parts of the body. The first sign is the reduction in breast and then then the abdomen area. Where am I now. Fairly slim with a 25 inch waist but still protruding tummy with an obvious fatty bulge and 2 obvious deposits of fat on the outer thigh. Do I want to tone these area - of course but they just would not budge. I am now at 113 lbs with height of 5 ft 3 inch. Based on stats, I should be satisfied but I cannot wear good fitting clothes with stretch as the lumps are so big and obvious. I was told that the stress hormone in my life is the reason why these lumps would not budge. Perhaps if I go all out and do some further drastic changes to my routine, these will remain with me. I am 50 yrs old.

Weight loss

Hiya, I use patches that I buy from this site: www.weight-loss-phytolabel.co.uk I want a flatter tummy... I just stick them on and drink a lot of water and it works. I used to do crunches but can't really anymore because I had a CS some time ago. But I can see that I have lost my mummy tummy.

eating vegetables is probably the best exercise you can do to lose weight around your midsection and anywhere else!

You can't spot train but if you do increase the vegetables and get rid of the alcohol, it's amazing what can happen to your midsection.

you can't spot train, all you can do is burn fat to lose weight, and the weight is going to come off wherever it wants to come off from, which is different places for everybody. do cardio, i would say an hour everytime you work, and you should see results. the elliptical is a cardio machine that specifically works glutes and hamstrings, so that may also be a good place to start.
squats, lunges, and dead lifts are good for toning these areas. google "exercises for glutes" or "exercises for thighs" and see what comes up, thats usually how i find out my workouts.
