I need coffee to poop

I have a cup of coffee every morning to "get things going".

How do I break this habit? Some mornings I don't have time for coffee which means I don't go. I eat plenty of fiber and drink lots of water, but I've always had a hard time going without stimulant. Help.

You may want to wake up earlier so you can exercise until you have moved things around. In addition, eat 5 to 6 times a day so your metabolism can get going. I am not suggesting you eat more, I am suggesting you eat smaller meals at different times.

I recently went off of caffene and found myself "stopped up". I was eating very low fat - so I added a little healthy fat to my diet (use a vinegrette dressing on your salad, avocados, etc.) and that helps get things moving.

maybe you could try that Activia yogurt to make yourself a little more "regular."

re: poop!

I have been doing Atkins for 1 1/2 years, so what I eat may be different from you. Here is my solution, I eat cabbage, or spinach, or nuts. Other things that seem to work is Earl Grey Green Tea (yes there is such a thing) Gren tea in general really helps move things along. Things that stop the works - BLACK TEA, like the orange pekoe you find everywhere. Also check your vitamin suppliments. Try adding a flax-seed oil (OMEGA 3) pill.

Find a good green tea... I drink 1 cup of a brand called CHINA SLIM TEA (you get it at a oriental market, its in a green box with black lettering) drink one cup a day make sure you follow the directions and dont steep it longer then 2 minutes (or you'll get the runs) and that will keep you regular

good luck

I have the same problem, and I consider it a major issue! What I have found is that the days that I do not wake up to an alarm, and let myself REALLY relax in bed, I can go in the morning without coffee. I don't know if that is an option for you, but it is an indicator that a good night's sleep helps. Also, at least 10 glasses of water.

Make some prune compote (just put prunes, a little bit of water and a tiny bit of sugar in a pot, bring it to a boil and then let it simmer for a while), and eat 2-3 every night before going to sleep... works wonders!

i hardly ever poop anymore...
i stopped abusing laxatives about 6 months ago, after using them for over 10 years, and things are not working. I am hoping that in time my body will learn to work for itself...same with coffee. let your body learn to work without it?
what does everyone else think?

Maybe it’s the very time to see a doctor so that he or she prescribes a special medicine? Btw, they told me that it is a kind of psychological habit. Just replace it with another ritual and everything will be ok. Good luck!

It looks like an addiction but I don't see any bad things in drinking coffee. There are many possibilities to make it faster. For example, you can have a look at cuisinart dcc-3000 here. There are many coffee makers which cook coffee fast. So, why don't you use them?
