Nauseous After Eating Eggs

I have noticed that I have been feeling sick after eggs (over easy, scrambled, hard boiled). This has been going on for about 3 months, anyone else have this problem?

here's a tip: don't eat eggs. you clearly have an allergy or sensitivity to them.

that will be a $200 consult charge, thanks!

3:29 - Are you aware that there are actual human beings on the other end of these threads? Your insensitivity and sarcasm is not cute. It is offensive. If this person was standing in front of you, would you speak to them in this tone? Be just as polite online as you would be in your local supermarket.

I'm not 3:29 but good lord 3:33 its not rocket science. If you continually eat something that makes you feel sick over and over no matter how it is prepared, DON'T EAT IT ANYMORE. Plain and simple, clearly the OP has developed either an allergy or some kind of sensitivity to eggs. And yes, if someone said that to me in front of me I would say the same thing to their face. It has nothing to do with being insensitive and its not even sarcasm, its just the truth. If you held your hand over an open flame and burned yourself would you keep doing it. If the OP knows for sure that it is the eggs causing the problem then for god's sake stop eating eggs. Like I said, it's not rocket science.

333 here, I know. that was my first response when I read the thread too, but I made a choice not to say anything. The OP is seeking advice not flippant responses. Plus, we want to encourage people to post, not put them done when they do.

Be polite on here, we want to encourage people to post.

To 3:29, you could have just said.

"You're probably allergic to them. Maybe you should not eat them or seek medical advice."

Look how easy would that have been. Just think before you post. After reading what you had written in response to the OP, I would have felt embarrassed to have asked a question. Maybe the OP wanted to see if anyone else has this same reaction.

Please be simpathetic to other people.

just because we're different in the way we approach a problem doesn't mean i'm not sympathetic. i don't sugar coat because i don't have to. she obviously has a problem with eggs.. why wouldn't she just stop eating them?

i just love it when people tell others how they should act because they're perfect.

OP Here

Jeeze this is unbelievable.
Duhhhh I know if something makes you sick don't eat it, I was simply curious if anyone ever went from eating eggs fine one week to suddenly feeling queesy the next time.

YES I did stop eating them but tried again, and since this is a relatively new symptom I wondered if someone else might have had a similar experience.

Some of you are just ignorant.

Did you have have to go to a special school to learn to be such an a**hole or were you born that way?

What part of "YES I did stop eating them" did you fail to understand.

To OP and OP only (unless other people are having problems with eggs)

I sometimes have stomach issues when I eat eggs. Have you tried switching to egg whites only? This may help.

Being polite and using good vocabulary does not indicate that one is perfect. It simply indicates that thought has been put into their comment before clicking the post button.

Hey OP --

good question above: Have you tried eating just the whites?
also, have you tried different kinds of eggs (either organic, free-range chicken or some other species like quail or guinea hen?).

it may not be the eggs but the feed the chickens are getting, something getting passed on to you that shouldn't be there

Monday, January 28, 2008, 6:44 PM

that's a great point..it could even be the antibiotics that they feed the chickens.

Pregnant women often have trouble with eggs, but I think it's the smell that gets them.

OP, i've actually developed the same problem recently. and to all those who are telling to stop eating them right away, well, i don't think that's an entirely right approach. first of all, i think the problem warrants some investigation (with the OP here is doing), and then - i've always loved eggs, so rather than giving them up i'd find ways to go around it (which, again, she is doing).
anyhow, my symptoms are worst from any fried eggs (incl. scrambled). boiled are better, but max 1-2. i personally don't see how plain eggwhites can replace a 'real' egg, so i'm not going for that replacement. however, one of my friends recently told me that a lot of people might have allergies towards soft(er) yolks, so to make sure that i eat only (very) hard boiled. and that really seems to be working.
and i don't know why i've suddently developed it. pregnant i'm not, that's for sure! if it is antibiotics in chicken, maybe try buy organic eggs?

I have trouble with eggs
I always have though. I thought everyone did. You know you burp really gross and feel icky all day after eating them. Funny I never thought it could be me.
Now I do think that when I use egg beaters I don't have that problem. I will have to try it again.
If you asked me if I liked eggs I would always say no but I do like or at least can eat egg beaters. Strange.
Thanks for the thread OP sorry people got so wierd about it.

I actually have noticed weird symptoms after eating eggs too. It started about a year or 2 ago. It makes my stomach feel like it is quivering and I am a little nauseous and I feel like a wave of warmth goes through me. It isn't bad enough that I never want to eat them again and it goes away after a little while. It is strange though...

I didn't even read this whole thread, but it reminds me of the time I wrote about cleaning, I wrote , I'm so depressed my house is a mess I hate to clean. Someone was sarcastic and said, GET OFF YOUR ASS AND CLEAN! Another person told me about Fly Ladies. To this day, I still laugh about that thread! The poster was right! i needed to get off my ass and clean, the poster who gave me the Fly lady info, gave me the tool to accomplish my goal. That thread really helped me. You gotta take what you like, and leave the rest!

Nauseous After Eating Eggs

It's either a sensitivity to eggs in general, or you may be reacting to what the chickens are being fed- try eating only free range eggs or as they are referred to in the grocery store, 'cage free' eggs. If that doesn't work, then try buying eggs from a local farmer who raises free range chickens. If you still have problems, either cut back on eating them and only eat 1 or 2 a week. If you still get sick, eliminate them from your diet.

eggs=nausea

I too experience nausea from eating eggs. It started about 5 years ago. It was occasional and mild at first. It took a while before I made the connection. I have tried many different types of eggs. I also developed a soy and milk intolerance about the same time. When I found out about my soy intolerance (that took about 4.5 years to identify because soy is in almost everything) I thought the egg problem might be because there is soy in chicken feed. So, I found a neighbor that raised chickens and feeds them corn only. But, it did not make a difference - they still bothered me. I think someone else said that deviled eggs don't bother her and that is the same with me. I can eat eggs if there is vinegar with them or in small amounts like cookies when baked??? Dieting for weight loss is really hard if you cannot eat eggs, dairy or soy.

bad eggs

over the past two years i have developed a problem with naseua after eating, my husband and i recently pinpointed the problem down to eggs. If i eat an egg by its self, especially fried it comes back up as soon as it touches my stomach,,,if i eat a product that has eggs in it: fried rice, egg rolls, some breads etc...i wind up in bed all day feeling sick to my stomach and not just tired but excessevily fatigued this goes on for about 24 hours, i also experiance some itching, tingling in the face and serious dark circles under my eyes. after doing some online research about food allergies i realized these were all signs and symptoms of a possiable food allergy.i have tried eating farm fresh eggs from corn fed chickens and that was even worse than the store bought eggs..i go see an allergist in 2 weeks. as to some of the ingorant posts...well juveniles are simply that...children....seriously lacking in maturity to realize that some people still do not have medical insurance and are looking for any means for help and understanding. I hope the above info. does help somebody in pinpointing a possiably food allergy or senstivity.

getting sick too...

I've been eating eggs all my life with no problems. I started losing weight this year, around 50lbs so far, and in the last couple months I've noticed the same thing with getting sick after eating eggs....but it's not all the time. I'd say about 50/50.

And in the times I do get sick, there's been no pattern. I've gotten sick with factory farm eggs, organic-pasture raised eggs, scrambled/sunny side up. I've been ok with hardboiled. My new eating habits are low carb, high protein and lots of veggies. There's no problems with any baked/prepared foods with eggs in them, just eggs alone.

Some of the theories i've been trying to test - newly developed food allergy(which i'm going to the doctor to confirm), some people have mentioned that on a low gluten/gluten-free diet they've developed intolerances for other foods, and my last theory to test is it possible could be a reaction with beans. I've eaten a lot of beans on this diet....and i've noticed that i've gotten more sick when i've had beans with my eggs: i.e. black beans for breakfast

I'm hoping it's not long term because i frickin LOVE eggs lol

Nausea with eggs

I too have eaten eggs all of my life and have had to avoid them recently. it was suddenly 9 years ago after my son was born that I noticed the extreme nausea after eating them. I find it interesting that others have experienced this too. That is what these kinds of forums are for. This could be linked to an agricultural practice or maybe a consequence of developing vaccines in eggs. If this is so the public should know. Also I like eggs, so this sucks.

yh i have the same problem for the last few mths, i have always eaten eggs and have never been ill on them before i am 37yrs old now and am experiencing the same as you and although some idiots on here are pointing out the obvious by not eating them anymore, like you i have tried them again after few weeks from last eating them and feeling sick, i was unsure weather it was the eggs or just a coincidence but after trying them again today and feeling worse than before i am now convinced it is the eggs but dont no why i have developed this sudden alergy or whatever to eggs

It's best to get checked out with a physician. If you have developed an allergy, you want to know how bad that allergy is. I have a few food allergies. Most of those I can continue to eat but shrimp could cause anaphylactic shock. I used to eat shrimp all the time until I had a bad experience. Went to the allergist and found out that I had developed a reasonably serious allergy. It's certainly worth checking out. My sister in law is allergic to eggs and has to be careful about what she eats to ensure it is completely egg free. Good luck figuring it out.

Eggs cause me the same quivering pain recently.

Thanks for sharing. I have always loved eggs. But, for the past few years, I feel terrible after I eat them. So, I nearly NEVER do. Every once in a while, I'll taste a few bites. My stomach bloats up. And I get the worst tummy pain ever. No cramping. No diarrhea. No vomiting of nausea. Just an awful feeling. It feels like heat. It hurts until it is fully digested and out of my body. It's awful. I had an endoscopy to see what was causing it (because it also started happening when I eat mushrooms, broccoli and avocados as well). They didn't notice anything. So, it's still a mystery. A painful, awful mystery. Pepto Bismol is the only thing that helps.

Eggs

I have loved eggs and have been eating them for 70 years. Recently, I too have noticed that I am feeling nauseous to the point of vomiting after eating them scrambled, cooked, poached, etc. At first I thought it was the brand of eggs (GMO's, etc.) I switched to organic. The same sick feeling continued.

In response to the person advising to simply not to eat them, I would like to say that it is logical...however, people want to know that they are not alone in their "afflictions" and want to research first before going to the doctor.
