WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE ! ! ! AMERICAN BOY VS CANADIAN GIRL ! ! !

We invite you to watch this thread for 30 days. We will track our progress on this thread and welcome your comments. Do men really lose faster than women? Challenge begins Mar.1st. ends Apr. 1st.

American Boy 195.5
Canadian Girl 158.9

If this were a challenge between an American Girl and American Boy, my vote would be for the American Boy. However, because this is a Canadian Girl, my vote will have to swing toward the Canadian Girl. Canadian Girls are tough. They drill holes in ice for food, and they work hard to keep their Igloos looking good.

Is it really a fair challenge? Men do lose faster, that gives the girl a disadvantage, she will have to starve.

If she gives the dogs a rest and pulls the sled herself, she might have a better chance.

The Guy will win...unless...

...it is easier for the guy to lose weight, because

1. men have more muscle mass, muscle naturally burns more calories
2. women have a higher healthy bodyfat percentage so can't go as low as a guy that is why every Biggest Loser winner is male.

BUT...If the girl is so tough and she goes all pro-ana to win - careful man you will have to do a Christian Bale to defeat her.

Seriously, how do you get the fun colors and fonts??

I'm rooting for the girl, just b/c she seems to be the underdog!!

Are you doing total pounds lost or percentage of total weight?

What's your plan - both of you?

Wednesday, March 12, 2008, 7:48 PM

Add comment
We are doing total pounds lost.

I am eating nothing but plant food and a little bit of chicken and fish. Lots of veggies and fruit. I am also doing a good amount of exercise. Rock Climbing and cardio workouts. I have been wanting to ride my bike to work but it has not happened yet. I usually do this on a fairly regular basis in the summer Winter and early spring on the other hand is a different story.

O think we will both do well. I have faith in both of our abilities. She has already lost a ton and so have I. I am using this to get the extra push to get the last 20 lbs off.

I guess we should do body fat percentage to keep it totally fair but neither one of (well at least I have not checked my percentage in about 10 months.

Thanks for rooting for me. Don't do it because you think I am the underdog. Do it because you want me to be the top dog :-)

My plan is to eat a healthy lean diet, along with daily exercise. Right now I am focusing mainly on weight training. When the brutal Canadian climate allows I like to run, not happening right now. For now I am walking to work, which at a brisk pace, a 3o min. trek each way.

Putting up your pic was a good idea American Boy !!! You just increased your fan club. tehe ;-)

I Agree with ..................... "I have the same problem with birthdays.. the not wanting to hurt anyones feelings." Your statement says it all. Now let's see if the Canadian Girl gets the message. If I would not have taken a stand a couple of years ago, I would not have been able to send this message.

All Hype - no performance !

You two need a little smack !

What is going on here - summer is coming and this is a posted contest and you lost nothing in 30 days - get with it soldiers ! !

I bet there are a lot of people in here who could do better that zero or plus pounds in 30 days - like 10 or 15 or more - what is the deal ???

Thursday, April 03, 2008, 1:50 PM

Add comment
P.P. You are right we both deserve a smack and also a kick in the a$$ !!!!

Both the American Boy and myself have lost just over 75lbs ! We did this challenge to give ourselves the extra push to lose the last 20 lbs we seem to be struggling with. It appears that neither one of us have taken this challenge seriously. It's time !! We did extend the challenge to June 1st.

Thank you for your comments. It was what I needed, call it my wake up, if you may. You got my attention!!!

I lost 40 lbs in 18 months and now have the last 15 to go, so I know
I have great habits on the weekdays - eat clean and little; workout 10 hs a wk, and even am good usually on the weekends - EXCEPT when I take my family to my parent's house on Sunday then I am toast - I don't know what happens - I start cramming my face with peanut butter and jellys and cereal and cookies - So I hear you American Boy !! - Shoot for 1 clean weekend and then keep it up.
