Anyways... the 35 are flex points with in the points system. The 35 are "free points" given to you so you can have some extras when you want and tailor the program around you. You are never supposed to go below your target range but whether you use 1 flex point of 5 a day (or none) is all up to you.

WW is a great program and the poster about was rude, but the truth is once you pay for the program it is all laid very understandably out for you.

You must be the terrorist PT blogger that has been menacing all these threads. Really, you need to CHILL OUT!

As for the PT post, when you start WW you are given a range of pts depending on several factors. Check out previous threads for that info. The 35 pts are extra - you don't earn them you just get them to use however you want or not at all if you want to see more results. You can earn points depending on how uch you exercise. Attend a WW meeting when the registration is free, collect all the info and if you can't afford to go again, at least you have the tools. good luck!

Thanks I Geuss

I just wanted to thank the person who actually answered my question politley...

To the others....I'm sorry if you can't understand that there are some people that don't have alot of money to lose weight and struggle to do so on their own...I am a single mother who works full time, yet still struggles to pay the bills, so next time when you want to give a rude comment think first because you do not know the situation!!

4:40 poster here

I, contrary to popular belief, was trying to be helpful.

WW is a great program and the info regarding the program is difficult to explain from one member to another and that was all I was trying to say. Go to WW online and read the info they give (they explain the basics of the program) research it off google... go to a center. You may not have a lot of money but the first meeting is free and they explain everything in detail. I too am a single mom who works full time and goes to school full time and I easily pay the $15 a month (I justify it as an investment in myself).

Extra points on weight watchers

I bought the weight watchers kit on-line, so I don't attend meetings. I think the information about the extra points is vague. Here is my situation: I get 22 points a day. Do you mean to tell me that if I spend 22 points each day for 7 days, I get an extra 35 points( to be used for that week, only)? Isn't this just for the Core plan, where you eat the core foods PLUS have an extra 35 points a week to eat whatever is not on the Core list?

You get an extra 35 points per week no matter which plan you are doing - flex or core. So if you have 22 points per day, you get your 22 points per day that you shouldn't go under, and then 35 to do with as you like. Use them, don't use them, spread them out over the whole week or go to town on the weekend - your choice.

even in the meetings the info re: the 35 flex points is a bit different than the rest of the program b/c those 35 points are optional.

You have your daily points target - which changed in December of last year FYI. This is a finite number that you target each day as your intake. It's part of the "controlled" eating that WW teaches. ... however life isn't always controlled and planned so then you get this 35 "flex" points that basically it's up to you whether you choose to use them or not. Many people in the meetings use them, many don't. Myself I use them on alternating weeks to try to keep my body out of any ruts.

I *think* the philosophy behind them is that you can handle eating up to 35 extra points in a week over and above what you actually NEED and still lose/maintain weight. That said, some people plan to use them others seem to save them for when THOSE moments come up and you are faced with something over-and-above what you planned/needed to eat in a day.

I have been going to meetings for a long time and I can tell you that you can't really get a straight answer on those 35 points from anyone! :)

No, you were rude

IF you can't share useful information (which you did not) in a kind spirit then you are probably rude on a daily basis, and should keep to yourself and stay away from a community forum.

This is a short guide we developed that you can download free from this page. It includes a unique incentive system, where you get rewarded for healthy eating. Meaning, if you eat a certain amount of greens, you'll have more wiggle room for stuff you truly enjoy.

This is a review of two books that we have seen help people in the PEERtrainer community tremendously over the last 4 years. Highly recommended. These books were written by the same guy who developed the point system that you see all over Whole Foods now in the US:

Online Tools are Enough

No one need to pay for Weight Watchers if they do not need nor want the support groups/meetings. All of the tools are online.

Get with the new program! You really gotta get the materials to figure out the new point system. The new program, is called Points Plus, Everyone gets at least 29 points plus! It's very healthy eating!. There is also a Simply Fillling Technique on PG 48 of the intro book Her in NY they won't tell you about that plan you gotta ask. I really think you gotta join to getthe info. Most of the time the meetings help me! Good luck! WW is the best!

You can successfully go it alone on WW

There are some people that need the support, and therefore, the meetings and new twists to the program are essential. If one basically can control their diet by making healthy food choices, the online tools are all you need. There is even a formula online that describes how points are reached based on calories, fat and fiber. I have participated both ways, and unless there is a highly motivational group leader (which I have found there are very few), one can go it alone. On the other hand, if one is prone to making poor food choices (sweets, fats, excess carbs) it will be helpful to have others guide you until you are more in control of possible food addictions.

It's the same in the end

WW is a calorie counting program. The protein vs. card diets are very much in vogue and I am not surprised that WW are getting into the act with the counting of carbs/proteins. Again, not necessary. The old point system works. All food plans are dependent on calorie intake, in the end.

You guys are ignorant ! It's a new program. The old program was basically calories with a slight twist. The new program is different. Don't be cheap! Go for 1 week pay the 12 bucks. Then you can talk WW. Right now most of you do not know what you are talking about!
