metabolism...can I really mess it up?
I am normally a pretty healthy eater, I am a vegetarian so I get lots of fruit and veggies, whole grains and lentils....however I love to binge eat! Its mostly at night, and its not everynight but I can sure pack away a lot of toast with brown sugar and butter (I dont have much other junk food) in one night. I find that I will binge eat for maybe two days where I will just eat a lot and can;t seem to stop but then the following few days I won;t want to eat much at all. Is this cycle really going to screw me up? As I said I dont do this all the time but are two days of chow mein, pizza, and icecream followed by two days of salad and a can of tuna going to slow my metabolism and make me gain weight?

I believe dramatically increasing your calories and dropping them back down to normal actually keeps your metabolism going strong (they even mentioned it on the biggest loser last night).

I wouldn't be so worried about your metabolism as the psychological reasons behind why you are going through this cycle.

I think it's a normal cycle, just don't eat until you're sick and eat a lot of nutrient-dense foods.

thanks for the comments, its really helpful I have been getting better, as I said its not every night, maybe once a every two weeks it will be really bad. Hopefully it wont make to much of difference
