Booze

I think I drink way too much and it is time to slow down.

I drink so many glasses of red wine at a dinner party I lose count. I know, its embarrassing. I also hang out with people who, for the most part drink a lot.

Thoughts?

Chronic binge drinking is a form of alcoholism.
It's also a sign of immaturity (think: college). If you don't grow out of it by age 24, you've got a problem.

I just hope you're not getting in a car and driving anywhere.

If you're concerned, it's time to make some changes.

I am the OP

No, I do not ever ever drink and drive. I have had some tough times and haven't been coping well, but I am not a monster.

Yup, I agree. Changing is hard.

Given the number of people who consume alcohol and drive - it wasn't an unreasonable question/statment. Kudos for being responsible enough to not put yourself or others at risk.

Well - why don't you try taking a break? You could try taking a month off and see how you feel about it after that. Some of us need to do that with certain foods and afterwards maybe it's ok to re-introduce it and maybe we realize it's not doing us any good and should stay in the past.

the month off idea is great. I took 6 months off one time and it was very good. Made me feel like i could do it anytime and got rid of any habits

Dear OP

Join the group 8 weeks without alcohol. There are great and supportive people there I managed to go 41 days until St. Pat's and that was choice.

Definitely. You'll lose weight too. I dropped about 10 lbs after I stopped drinking. It feels great!
