Does purging always = bulimia?

I've been a closet purger for many (7+) years. I am significantly overweight (BMI is about 30). I don't massively binge, but definitely eat until I am uncomfortably full. Sometimes, I don't purge, but other times I do. It ranges from once a week to once every 3-4 months, so it does not fit the criteria for bullimia. I KNOW it is not the healthiest route to go, but I was just wondering if this can lead to an eating disorder, or if it really is dangerous being as unoften as it is. I guess what I am really trying to find out is if this is 'normal' behavior - does anyone else got hrough this?

It sounds like you definitely have bulimic tendencies and you should get help.

I agree with the pp. Even if it doesn't fit the diagnostic criteria - it is disordered eating and it isn't 'normal' behavior. I hope you'll seek out some help somewhere - even if it's on your own with a book on the topic.

seek help from a professional, that is unhealthy behavior that needs professional intervention.

Yup, bulimic. It's not about how often you purge - it's why you purge. You have a problem.
