heart rate

Anyone know of any good links for target heart rate info? I know what my target heart rate is, but I can work out for 20 min in my 'target range' and barely break a sweat. I would assume that the more in shape you get, you have to take that into account for your target range...

And does anyone know of a waterproof heartrate monitor? Stupid clock at the pool is so far away it's hard to see the second hand, and I can't count my pulse and count to 15 at the same time...

Also, check out Polar HRM's - they have waterproof models.

Good to check out a book on HR training- Sally Edwards is a good author. There is also a book called Heart Rate Training for Dummies or something like that.

Most HR training programs have you work out like this:
1x per week: low/moderate, longer duration
3x per week: moderate intensity, some intervals
1x per week: high intensity interval training (this is the work that helps increase your aerobic/anaerobic threshold, thus increasing your "fat burning zone"--the longer you can maintain at a higher intensity - without going anaerobic - the more fat you will burn)
