Now here's some more motivation to lose the tummy!

CNN reports on a study showing that people with "apple" body types are more likely than "pear" people to suffer from Alzheimer's -- and if they have an "apple" body type AND are overweight, they are even MORE likely.

When will people learn that overweight = health problems, regardless of what they might be?

What I thought was so interesting in this article was the correlation between body type and Alzheimer's. I have an "apple" shape and am at the lowest end of my healthy weight range -- and I still have a tummy. If I read this right, I am doing all I can to reduce my risk, but even so, I have more risk than a "pear"-shaped person who weighs more than I do.

Grrrr.

Thats not really fair, how rude!

I luckily am a pear shape but my husband is definitely apple, and it is next to impossible for him to lose the belly. So it sounds like there is absolutely no hope for him. He has lost 40 lbs but all from his lower half he still has that belly. I'm so sorry for all you apple shape. Good luck to all.

Keep in mind that there may be other factors at play in the study that are more complicated than just body type. Statistics can be scary if they're not taken with a grain of salt! The best thing you can do is eat right, exercise, try to stay emotionally balanced, and remember to enjoy your life! You can't change your genetics, but you can try to make the most of what you've got.
