Yoga am I doing it right?

every tuesday night I go tto a PM yoga class. it's only 30 mins long and one of the positions we do is lotus. It hurts my elbows like hell. I am doing what the instructor says and she's never corrected me in that particular position. Other members of the class complain about that position as well. How can i tell if i'm doing it right? or if the instructor is giving bad instructions?

Thanks In Advance
D

haha back again sorry the pose is

Salabhasana/Locust pose
when i see pictures online the models have their arms parallel to their body at each side, when the teacher instructs us, she tells us to lay ontop of our arms, elbows touching and arms hidden under your body since you are laying on them.

Help whos right the poses i find online or the way the instructor teaches it? When i do it the way the instructor teaches i'm in alot of pain, pain in the elbows.

Are ther other yoga studios in your area? Or I have learned , there are just some poses that I can live with out. Just explain to the teacher your discomfort and do a different pose during that part of class.
There is a ton of info if you just type the name in the search engine. Good luck and take care.

Try asking your instructor if you could modify the pose by doing Flying Locust.
Its the same pose, but instead of laying on your arms, they are by your side, and when you raise your head and chest, you also raise your arms a little..maybe even just an inch or two..great for strengthening the back!
Good Luck!!
