I smashed my new car and I'm so upset - arrrrgghhhhh

I was in a parking lot and we backed into each other. I only got my car 2 weeks ago - why did I buy a new car?? I should have gotten a used one. Ugh. Thanks for the vent.

oh, so sorry. It is upsetting. At least now your car is "initiated" and you won't get upset about a door ding...may as well go for the real thing right? And you weren't hurt I hope if it was only a backing into thing.

Still, I can understand your upset.

With my first new car (about 20 years ago) someone sideswiped me and got all 4 driverside panels when the car was a couple months old. I was so upset. But then the car was repaired and everything was ok and I didn't worry about little scratches after that. I survived a highway accident with body damage to the car and not me.

Best wishes OP.

TOTALLY SUCKS!!! I am so sorry to hear that.

I like what the previous poster said about the 'initiation'... I used to work at a high-end car dealership. We had a (very wealthy) man come in and buy a brand new car every New Years Day. Then, before he would drive it off the lot, he'd dent the rear quarter panel with a hammer. Said he was too nervous about scratching/denting it, so he just took care of it himself and the anxiety around it went away. We though he was crazy, but he has a point......

Hope your insurance covers it!

I have a friend who had her car broken into within a week of getting it. Caused $4,000 worth of body damage. Thankfully, it was a lease car, but it was a crappy way to get her money's worth out of the insurance.

Sorry to hear about the fender bender, hopefully, your insurance covers the repairs...?
