Old threads

Okay I'm obviously the minority here because the thread police love to tell people to use the search function and find posts that are already out there on a topic but it drives me crazy when all these old threads pop up. They aren't relevant to the OP, you don't know when to start reading to catch up and what's really going on, and half the time I realize I've posted a response halfway through.

Personally I rather see people start a new thread to ask a question then response to an exisiting 60 posts in to ask their question.

Sorry I know this will probably go to debate and whatnot but I really just had to vent.

I agree and most of us on PT seem to agree based on emails we get. To repeat, if people want to start new thread, let them. In fact, if you are not hurting someones feelings, do whatever you need to do to get the information, feedback and support that you need. It is funny because I started a thread a couple days ago and even I was nervous that I was starting something that had been discussed before!

I agree with you OP. And I could also do without the passive aggressive 'bumping' of similar threads of the same topic. It just speaks to the spirit of the person bumping. Yes, we get it. The topic has been addressed before. Just like most topics on this board...and those who actually want to contribute something worthwhile will do so.

AGREED!

I don't mind ppl posting links to old posts for the sake of information sharing, especially if the OP is asking for ideas or suggestions ... but I feel like, just b/c the question was asked before, it doesn't mean that a conversation with those on the board TODAY isn't worth having ???

... and no one should be afraid to ask anything as far as I'm concerned!
