Muscle vs. Endurance
I am trying to get more muscular AND develop endurance...
I know at extreme levels these clash (marathon runners who gain heavy muscle mass lose performance and bodybuilders who do too much endurance work will lose muscle mass) but CAN I successfully do both to a pretty high degree ? ?
advice ? ?

I think you just answered your own question. Simply, you can do both, but with limitations. Trying to do both at a "high degree" is not going to work. You have to decide, do you want to be "cut" and defined or lean like a runner? Runners are lean because the less weight they have, the less pressure on their joints when they run. Runners have muscle, just lean muscle - think long and sinewy. They may not be able to bench press a teenager, but they can run from whatever is trying to chase them!
