Tons of abloungers on craigslist.com

In case someone says it works, I see them all the time on craigslist.com in the "sporting" section.

The ablounger craze has come and gone, you can do better than that, or get one cheap on craigslist.

It's just okay... gives a good full range of motion, but you can do the same on the floor or a stability ball. It also encouraged people to go really fast sometimes and they'd just be swinging back and forth and not using any real muscles.

What kind of home equipment is worth buying, then? Any good experiences, anyone?

The kind of equipment that you use at the gym. All the gyms that I've been to have treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters, rowing machines, free weights with weight benches, weight machines, etc. None have ever had an ab lounge. People do their crunches at the gym on a mat or a stability ball. Even if you can't afford the same quality of machine as you see at the gym, you're better off buying the same type of machine as you'd typically use there. If you can't find the machine at a gym, there's a good chance that it's a gimmick, not a necessity.

back strain.

Don't waste your money. Exercise balls work just as well and they're about 60-70 dollars cheaper.

I like the ab lounger for stretching out my back and increasing my range of motion. I do not use it as a weight loss mechanism.
