too bad it fails to mention when advocating whole grains, that wheat is known to increase insulin levels, even in it's whole form, and that it can lead to insulin resistance as well...

there is no strict "evidence" for this assertion- but that does not mean it is not true for you. this is one of the problems about evidence based medicine is that it can be a bitch sometimes for people to have what is actually happening to them to be acknowledged by doctors.

I had Metabolic Syndrome, had all of the risk factors listed. But South Beach and cardio have improved all of my numbers. I am 5 years out next month and my numbes continue to improve. Weight has stabilized but I definitely feel better.
