Wow. I don't know. 30 pounds. Even 15 would be tough. But on the bright side, since it sounds like you're only cooking mostly for yourself, you might have an easier time adhering to a diet though. ... Dieting is so tough. And being a new mother is even tougher. I couldn't even think about losing weight until my youngest was 2. .. Best of luck. I know how emotionally tough and lonely it can be with a baby and absent father. Truly, I hope you succeed in the weight loss. Just be healthy when you do it!!!!!!!

Losing 30 pounds by Dec. 1 sounds unlikely -- you'd have to lose 6 pounds a week, which would be VERY hard if you're not on "The Biggest Loser." :) I'm sure you can make some good progress, though!

First off, you'll need find time to exercise and cook healthfully -- or, rather, MAKE time! I know it's really tough, but it CAN be done! I have a 2 1/2 year old and a 10-month-old and I've lost 25 pounds, so it's definitely possible if you get creative!

Depending on your weather, you can take your baby for walks in the stroller or in a baby carrier. (I really like the Ergo Baby Carrier ... soooo comfy!) Or if you're interested in running, you could get a good jogging stroller and put your baby in that.

If it's too cold in your area to go outside with your baby, you could work out at home with workout videos (check out www.collagevideo.com for good ones), or join a gym with child care. Or maybe you and a friend could trade babysitting duties; you watch the kids while she goes to the gym, and vice versa. If you choose to work out at home, naptime is always a good time to get a workout in!

As for cooking, try using the crockpot. I like it because you can throw the food together whenever -- during naptime, usually, in my case! My baby also really likes his exersaucer. You can even put it somewhere where he/she can see you while you're in the kitchen cooking. Does your little one like to sit in his/her high chair? My baby is usually pretty happy to just sit there and play with a toy, too, while I'm getting things done.
