What is the best way to sculpt those problem areas?

I've recently lost 10 pounds and might try to lose a few more but overall, I feel pretty good about my body. I'm definitely into the "detailing" and "tweaking" part of the getting healthy, getting fit program. The annoying thing is that I still have some cellulite on the back of my thighs and butt. I am doing some strength trainig exercises for hams and gluts (in addition to cardio) but from what I've read you still have to lose the subcutaneous fat before you can see real muscle definition. Does anyone have a different opinion than this or have specific exercises that they like which would address my problem areas?

Just keep chipping away at those fat stores!!! I'm finding that working out on an empty stomach and waiting an hour to eat seems to be chipping away at the fat stores well. I've been doing this for 4 weeks and have pics in my log today showing the progress.

Blozzom :-)

Unfortunately cellulite is something that your either born with or not -except for men- that isn't present in them like us women. There are some expensive treatments that help in the visual but you have to maintain and that becomes very costly.
Keep on your program! Way to go!

Have to disagree with both of the above comments - you have to eat preferably within an hour of exercise - but you have to eat protein - no carbs - to help re-build your muscles.

Cellulite - I'm happy to inform everyone that it does go away - but you need years of weight training and cardio - my experience.

To blast fat, try doing high intensity intervals for your cardio - and yes you will see those ugly dimples - but it means you're losing fat! If your butt muscles have been dormant for years it will take a while for you to see them melt away fat - the minute you have a calorie excess the fat cells will move onto your butt - until you make your glutes and hams into mean fat-burning machines!

Cellulite does not actually ever go away, technically. But, it's appearance does. Think of the dimples as strings attached to your insides, that are only a certain fixed length. Once you lose the fat from that area, the rest of your skin will also be within that fixed length from your insides, and you won't see the dimpling. If you're pretty happy with your body, a few more pounds of fat loss will probably do the trick!

Sculpting

I've found pilates is great for sculpting the butt and back of the thighs, although, as the posts above indicate, cellulite is rather another matter.

When I started pilates I found a program that involves extra leg moves that gave me a nice butt/hamstring curve that I'd never had before, even though my weight stayed the same (overall it took about 2 months before I finally noticed, but I was thrilled it was there)!

The great thing about pilates is that you only do a few reps of everything and a full body (intermediate) workout can be done in about 25min. The trick is to do it every day, but you will definitely see sculpting results if you keep at it. If you want to do it at home, I reccomend the Classical Pilates Mat Work DVD.
