One thing that helps... it's like the "sucking in" of the stomach...
Tightent your butt muscles whenever you are standing around... :-) I think there are some leg lifts you can do as well-- lifting/kicking them behind you and squeezing the butt as you do it.

If you have access to a weight bench, leg "curls" are helpful. (you lie belly down on a weight bench, lift the weight with your ankles by bending your knee. Concentrate on squeezing the butt and thigh muscles...

Plie squats also help to work the front & backs of thighs. Lunges, too, I think (be careful not to let the knee go forward of your leg-- keep it vertical at a 90 degree angle to the floor.

High kicks (like the rockettes do) also work out those thighs and the butt, too.

Make sure you STRETCH thoroughly before and after these exercises!

Blozzom may be able to suggest some good leg work, since she does ballet.

Blozzom here....

As much as we all would love to it's impossible to spot-reduce.

I am now a firm believer in the Body For Life eating/exercise routine. If you want to have a bikini ready body this is the plan to do. I am seeing UNBELIEVABLE transformations in others as well as myself. The scale weight doesn't budge but BOY do the inches go down!!! Depending on how much you have to lose, women can lose 4 dress sizes in just 12 weeks!!

If you're serious about lookin' hot in your bikini buy the book Body For Life by Bill Phillips (don't get Body For Life for Women - it's not the same thing and people say it's not worth the $$ - it was NOT endorsed by Bill Phillips).

Here's some websites that will tell you more about how it works:
www.bodyforlife.com
http://www.hussmanfitness.org/html/TPBodyforLife.html

And here's a website with a Body For Life forum where you can see everyday people like yourself and what they've done in just a matter of weeks! I know it's hard to believe the transformations you see on the Body For Life page because you feel that of course they're going to show success stories with people that may have out-of-ordinary results but check out the site below to see that MANY people get awesome results!!

Body-for-Life-for-Women

Actually, I am doing the Body-for-Life for Women and it is an awesome program. I have done both the Body-for-Life and the Body-for-Life for Women. One thing I always thought when I was doing the Body-for-Life program was that it really seemed more appropriate for men. I LOVE THE BODY-FOR-LIFE FOR WOMEN. While I don't follow either program to a tee (I never have - I adjust programs to my life, this is not a lab!) what I do follow is a mixture of the two. It has been great reading both books. I reccomend getting both from a library and checking them out. They are awesome reads and you will glean wonderful information and inspiration from both.

Bent-Leg Extensions, Leg Curls standing against a wall, Prone single-leg raises, Pelvic Lifts, Bent-knee crossovers... See the book Banish your Belly, Butt and Thighs Forever! It has great exercises in it for toning.

to tighten your glutes and hams the best exercises are:
good-mornings and deadlifts
bridge
'superman' or sometimes called superwoman (laying on the flower and raise your ams and legs as high as you can)
just google them up to see more detailed descriptions or maybe video

my favorite butt exercise - stand in line in a 'start' position as if you're a sprint runner (hands, one knee and toes of the other foot in one line), straighten your legs raising butt, but not the hands off the floor as if you're about to take off. lower back. repeat 50x on each leg - it's a killer!

Back of thighs

Try Rollerblading, especially up hills. It's the best ham workout ever!

I used to have a totally flat ass. Not skinny flat, just, no shape to it. Then I started walking to campus, which involved going up like 3 or 4 flights of stairs in a row. I got a great, shapely ass that way. Then it got flat again after school. Then I started taking the L to work, and again, walking a lot of stairs. Now my ass is nicely rounded again.

I'd say, stairs help shape your backside a lot!
