Exhausted After Lunch

I had a ton of energy yesterday and then had a lunch meeting where I ate a steak and had a sundae for dessert. It killed me the rest of the day. Why on earth did I do that? I was so hungry I felt I had to really nourish myself.

It was probably the sugar from the sudae - quick high, and then a big crash. That happens with sugars and other carbs. Think about what you said - you were so hungry that you felt you had to nourish yourself. I know you know that nourishment doesn't involve a sundae, and probably doesn't involve a steak, but at least that's protein, and likely fairly lean protein if it was a good cut of meat (most cuts of steak are actually considered lean proteins). Next time, have the steak and some salad or veggies, or, just a little bit of the steak cut up on top of a salad, or... Any other options. But remind yourself how tired the sundae will make you feel, and skip it during those lunchtime meetings! If you're still craving it hours later, you can always have one then. There is no food shortage here!
