is my weight right? Can't go any lower no matter what!

I'm a 54-year-old Asian male, pre-diabetic, 5ft 5inches, 145 pounds. I walk 3 miles every day (3.5 mph). In addition, I do 60 min of yoga 3 times a week and 45 min of dumbbell routine on the other three days. I am a vegetarian. The weight just won't go down. My endocrinologist says 135 pounds would be an ideal weight. My dietician disagrees, saying given my age, this is fine. What else should I do if I want to reduce my weight?

As a prediabetic, make sure the carbohydrates you are consuming are complex (whole grains, sweet potatoes, things like that). In certain people, carbs can cause you to gain weight, esp belly fat. However, If your diet is good and you are doing all that exercise, I would tend to go along with the dietician. Is your dietician a Ceritfied Diabetic Educator? Their input would carry more weight (no pun intended) than a dietician in your situation. Good luck.

Suggest you cut back your daily caloric intake by 100 calories. Your current food/calorie intake is supporting your weight at 145 pounds.

Even vegetarians and people who eat only healthy food can be overweight too.
