Substantial overnight weight gain?
I need some help...I work out daily (with a couple days off here and there) doing both cardio and weight routines. I eat a moderately healthly diet and drink plently of water. I have maintained a certain weight steadily for the past couple months (even after a weekend of skipping the gym, eating poorly and drinking alcohol, I will not have gained a single pound). However, yesterday I did the most intense interval training on the tredmill and weight circuit training that I have done in MONTHS and I gained 6 lbs overnight. Could it be water retention because of the extreme heat we are having or muscle being built? I skipped the weight training for tonights workout but still did the interval run in hopes that it was the more intense weight training that caused the gain. What could have cause such a drastic gain? Should I not ever lift weights or does it eventually all even out?

It was most likely water. Working out more intensely than usual can cause your body to hold water. Don't stop weight training and try not to worry too much about it. It should go away.

Make sure you are drinking enough water. Drinking water will not make you retain water. With the amount you are working out, you need lots of water.
