calories in seaweed salad (wakame)

Does anyone know how many calories there are in a PREPARED seaweed salad? Everything I find online says it has very few and because it is drenched in oil (sesame?) I highly doubt it....

You can find nutritional information at www.calorieking.com.
Search wakame. It shows 48 calories for 7 oz. I suspect that's probably pretty close.

Seaweed

Raw seaweed , 2 tablespoons, has 5 calories. Sesame oil (Sun Luck brand) 1 teaspoon has 45 calories. Maybe you can figure it out from this. Source is "2002 Calorie Counter" by Corinne Netzer, in paperback.

i got some prepared seaweed salad today at whole foods and while there was no nutritional info on the back they did list the ingredients and next after seaweed is sugar so i'm with you its probably more than you think if there is a lot of sugar and sesame oil.

Wakame Salad Calories etc

The recipe printed in the New York Times August 13, 1997 in an article by Susan Hamlin, a recipe using 1/2 cup soy oil and 2 tsp sesame oil per ounce of dried Wakame (this sounds "drenched in oil to me as any oil has approximately 100 calories per Tbs.) lists these as the calorie etc estimates of one serving which is distinctly NOT low calorie: nutritional analysis per serving: 330 calories, 30 grams fat, 0 milligrams cholesterol, 2,070 milligrams sodium, 3 grams protein, 8 grams carbohydrate. I would take this as a far more correct estimate. The Japanese version of wakame salad uses NO oil only vinegar and soy sauce and hence is more likely to have 45 calories or so per serving and deserve a low calorie designation.
