Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure

Hello fellow PT members! In less than 3 months I will be walking the Philadelphia Susan G. Komen 3-day for the Cure. This consists of walking 60 miles in 3 days to raise funds and awareness for BREAST CANCER. I am walking in Memory of my Aunt Linda. I am halfway to the requirement of $2300 but still need the other half in order to walk. I know that most peoples lives have been touched by this disease in some way or another. Please contribute to this great cause by going to www.the3day.org Click on donate, click on participant and then enter my name - Tamaira Jones. Please feel free to comment, ask questions, and of course - donate. Thank you for taking the time to read this

Susan G. Komen for the Cure

A social responsibility like joining in an activity for a good cause. A generous advocacy like the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, an organization known for its its global activities of helping the breast cancer community. But there is the recent Susan G. Komen vs. Planned Parenthood issue. A related discussion in: Susan Komen attempts to deflect heat from Planned Parenthood decision .Involving legal matter in a management is a crucial task for a long run strategic management. The recent controversy is a challenge and has valid reason in solving it.

Please, no abortion debate!!

I was very confused last week over the whole Komen/Planned Parenthood story. Especially since I had been waiting to hear the results of my breast biopsy exam. Just three months ago my aunt had a mastectomy. I seriously lost my sh*t!

I'm happy to report that I am cancer free!!! But I was really worried there for a while. I am fortunate to live in a country that offers universal health care. I feel really bad for those who are not covered. My heart goes out to those less fortunate.

I really liked this article, I thought it was non-biased... but then again, everything is biased, I believe, to some degree.

No matter what your politics are, please keep up on your breast exams ladies! My aunt had radiation treatment and is doing much better. Her hair is about an inch long now. She is going to be okay. Me too.

Sorry can not support that fund due to the contoversy of her caving at the pressures of supporting planned parent hodd. It goes much deeper the whole controversy about "abortion and contraception" it is a goverment pushing their agenda on us Catholics and trying to now attempt to have our beliefs and our values compromised. If people dont like the idea of not having certain health care benefits dont work or seek medical attention at a Catholic agency.
As far as breast cancer goes and the fight against it no barriers will ever keep me from supporting folks like your aunt I will continue to do so in a way that I can by giving money to agencies that dont conflict with my faith. I wish you the best and truly encourage you to dig deep for such and incredible adventure and challenge you are admired for doing so for your aunt and all women who need to be reminded of how it effects us all and if not now will in the near future, good luck!

They seem to be all over the place with what they support and what they don't support. The whole pink ribbon thing has become a sham and a symbol for what charities should not do.

The thing that we'd observe is that Komen is not taking any of that money and helping fund research studies that explore the link between certain foods and breast cancer.

That would be a good step for them.
