diarrhea after sushi (gross, I know) but I have to ask

Why do I get diarrhea every time after I eat sushi? It's not just once and I don't think it's an actual bacteria. It's every time I eat it and I like sushi a lot. I don't want to give it up. Does anyone else have this problem?

Hi OP,
I don't have this problem but you may as well as your doc to see why you are having this reaction. Would be good to know if it's when you eat raw fish sushi or do you also have this reaction to sashimi? Good luck.

I think you should seriously consider giving it up for a while and give your colon a break

I had that problem in my late teens. Once I hit my 20s, I tried it again, and I haven't had the problem since. I know this doesn't help, but maybe try laying off the sushi for a bit? Come back to it again in several months or years, might be different then. Sorry I'm not much help. Good luck with that, hopefully someone has a scientific explanation for you.

you could be allergic to something in it. The nori, the roe, a specific type of fish? My husband has developed a garlic allergy recently - and if he eats it, he ends up with diarrhea. If he stays away from it, he's ok.
