How can I get relief from heel pain?

I have been experiencing heel pain in both my feet for the past 6 weeks. I used to run regularly, but since the pain started I switched to bike riding to lessen the pounding on my feet, but I still have pain. I've also tried different footwear and insoles without much success. When I wake up in the morning my feet and ankles feel sore and tight, particularly in the achilles tendon area. Any ideas?

I would actually go see a doctor about this only because its been so long. You could have hair line fractures or you could have an over extended tendon. Either way I would go get it checked out.

Sorry about your pain though :(. I have had surgery on that tendon so I understand the pain you are going through.

I hope you feel better soon!!! But do not run on it!!!!

Yoga really helped get me out of pain. Even if you start out slow and easy, it usually provides relief. You can do a video or a class. You can even start out by doing stretches in your house.

I agree, go to the doctor. My friend had some serious heel pain and found she had a bone spur.

My heel pain was due to bone spurs. I switched to Croc shoes, iced the bottom of my heel, did stretching exercises on the stairs (Best idea, see a podiatrist to find out what the problem is.) I have no more heel pain. :)
