Study and time for health and fitness
At the moment I'm at university doing my honours year. I'm finding that even though I procrastinate a lot, I can't find the time to exercise. And I also overeat and eat unhealthy food like my studies are an excuse for it, but in this last year I've put on more than 6kgs which is awful. I've gone back into old habits and I'm struggling to get out of them.
Has anyone had similar experiences? Anyone have tips?
Thanks, Simone

I review class notes while I'm on the treadmill.
I've tried to read textbooks while I'm walking on the treadmill but I can only read them if the text book has large print. Some people are able to read books with the usual size print.
Libraries have lots of non fiction videos and CDs related to college subjects that you can check out and watch while you are at your fitness center exercising on a treadmill or a bike or on some other piece of exercise equipment. I bought a cheap $20 CD player at Radio Shack and I take it to my fitness center. It plugs into the front of the TVs and I play whatever I want to watch. One semester I was taking a History of Nazi Germany class and there was a ton of films on that subject to chose from and watch. And for the English class on Shakespeare I was watching " Mac Beth", and "Hamlet" (my favorite of all time was the 1948 "Hamlet" with Laurence Olivier as the Prince of Denmark!!! What a great film!), and then there was Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in "The Taming of the Shrew"... That was another great film! And another semester I was taking Astronomy and there were Nova films on astronomy to watch. The list goes on and on! And a great aspect of watching something while you exercise is that you don't suffer from boredom and stop exercising!
Or you could record lectures in your classes and listen to them while you exercise.
A friend and I used to walk on the beach conjugating irregular Spanish verbs and memorizing vocabulary words using flash cards. I would go to sleep at night with verb conjugations going through my head.
I love doing two things at once!
Good luck!

i'm also in school and at time find it difficult to manage time. the thing I got most used to was getting my workouts done in the mornings, to get them out of the way and not have to think about when i was going to fit them in. i found that if i dont do them in the morning, i will say i will do them later that day, but things ALWAYS come up and i choose other things, whether homework or sleeping, over working out. so even if it means getting up an hour or two before your first class, start your day off right and get your workout finished first thing! once you are in the routine of doing so, you will absolutely love how it makes you feel for the entire rest of the day!
also, i know my campus has incredibly unhealthy food items EVERYWHERE. i live off campus, and told myself i was going to bring my lunch and snack every single day and never be "forced" to buy greasy food at the cafe. this also helps save money and time, because if i need to study i can just bring my lunch to the library and do two things at once!!
school is stressful, we all know this. but don't use food to manage the stress. do you have a tendency to much on snacks when you study? try munching on bell pepper slices or carrots instead of chips and cookies. studies have actualy found that if you are eating while you are studying you are not containing as much information because you are so indulged in the snacks. habits are hard to kick but they are completely possible! and worth it after the initial struggle is over. good luck to you! you will soon find that eating well and exercising often will actually DEstress your school life more than you think.
