its a known fact that arthritis no matter where it is .. is affected by weather. when its cold my wrists hurt more and my elbow acts up. when it rains i get the same thing but when its warm it hurts but the pain is more tolerable. not sure why that is.

I've known of folk with arthritis in the fingers/knuckles. Once they stop eating wheat, within 2 to 6 weeks, the arthritis in their fingers goes away. I'm curious if you are eating more wheat in the winter, along with temperature drop, and this combination is affecting you?
Or as previous poster mentioned, it's just weather.
I've known marathon runners that use ice therapy (ice baths - never more than 20 minutes at a time) for joint inflammation. The ice baths reduce swelling and speed the healing process.
I hope you figure it out and get to the root cause and fix that, as opposed to just putting a bandaid on the symptom.
I'm curious if you had a solid fitness base and worked up slowly and gave your body proper rest days to heal. Rest days are where/when the magic happens. Never underestimate the power of the rest day (taper, for the runners) perhaps your body has never fully healed?

ice bath - you can fill a bathtub, sink, or hotel trash can, with ice (and water, if you like, or not) submerge your foot, ankle, knee, entire lower half of body, in ice bath for 15 to 20 minutes. NEVER more than 20 minutes, or risk permanent damage. Let body part warm back up to normal temperature, then repeat, several times alternating for billow effect.
You can also freeze a plastic disposable water bottle and "roll" in under your foot (or other body part) and stop after 20 minutes. My friends do it in evenings while watching television. Do not "roll" for more than 20 minutes at a time.

Ideas for painful joints
I also found that removing some foods I was sensitive to helped with overall inflammation and joint pain.
Another thing to look at, since this seems to be seasonal, is your Vitamin D levels. You should have the levels checked via a blood test prior to dosing with large amounts. Most of us don't get enough sun exposure at any time of the year and at most latitudes in the US the sun angle in the winter makes it impossible to make the vitamin D we need. Vitamin D helps with many, many different aspects of our health.
If you can't do the intense ice treatment, you might try this. Put very cold water in one container (or use ice pack since this is your shoulder) and hot water in another container (or use heating pad or something similar). Start with the cold application and leave it on for about 1 minutes, switch to the hot application and leave for 2 minutes. Repeat this for 4 to 5 times a couple times per day. Always end with the cold application. This makes the tissues expand and contract acting like a pump bringing new blood and nutrients to the site.
If you are into herbs, try using a cottonwood and St. John's wort salve.

wow some great info.. looks like they gave you everything i pretty much was researching for you sweetie..
starting jan2 i will be gluten and meat free so maybe the pain in my wrists and my left elbow will go down.. that would be amazing..
i have tried ice packs. and heat alternations.. a good friend of mine does ice baths after his marathons but i haven't yet, but i haven't done my first marathon yet either only a half.
also Arneica is a natural herb that has helped before. forgot about that .
but I am definitely a gluten.. wheat person.. so this should be interesting to see if cutting that out helps my arthritis.
10:33. i agree with rest day even though i know you dont like it. your body needs it.
we will get through this together.. ill keep you pusted on the gluten thing.

I was seeing a specialist for shoulder pain. I couldn't lift my arm in certain directions. Couldn't do pushups anymore. Couldn't reach out of my car window to use the ATM. And so on.
The doctor started with a cortisone shot to reduce the swelling. That worked great until it didn't anymore. He had said if the shot wore off then the next step would be surgery to create more room in my shoulder so there wouldn't be any more impingement. To me that doesn't address the problem - it just accommodates it! Before I went back to him I decided to eliminate all inflammatory foods instead and see what happened. I was quite happy to discover the shoulder pain went away!

I have arthritis in my hands and wrists that really limit my exercise.

10:44 here...I had been dealing with the shoulder pain for about a year before I saw someone. I only got one cortisone shot and it helped for about 2-3 months. I had another appointment scheduled with the doctor, but I wanted to give the dietary stuff a try before I went back to him.
I joined the PT cleanse and eliminated sugar, gluten, dairy, corn, peanuts and soy. I followed it to a tee for 3 weeks and felt the improvements in my shoulder. I've since gone back and forth with eating those things I previously eliminated, but not as much on a daily basis as I did before and I join about every cleanse now and work toward consistently keeping those things out of my diet (sugar, especially). It's a work in progress!

I am right beside you two. I have a left elbow and wrists pains.. i cant do pushups.. it kills my wrists. i have tried many times..
I have decided this new year to cut out gluten and meat. i feel better when i dont have them..
would love to hear more
