The Fast Diet by Michael Mosley

Is anyone following this plan? My husband and I saw the BBC show and were very impressed. We decided to give this plan a try, and we've just finished our two "fast" days. The next five days will be "normal" eating. All of the reviews I've read have been glowing. Has anyone in PT found success with this plan?

ok I looked up this plan.. I do not think the idea of 400 and 500 some calorie day is something I would like..

one thing when you do a plan it has to be sustainable and lasting.. I dont see this plan this way..

this is my opinion and not saying it wont work, but its like buying foods on a meal plan having them sent to you.. once you go off them you will gain the weight again..

once you stop fasting and continue to eat you may gain the weight back..

let me know if you try it, but please do be careful.. make sure you are eating enough.

Thanks Lynneta,
Always appreciate your opinion. For women it's 500 calories for two days and for men it's 600 for two days. We loaded up on veggies and a little protein for those two days so it wasn't bad at all. It acted like a mini cleanse. Will let you know how it works over time.

Thanks for letting me know you've found success with this plan. I just watched a program on the BBC. Go to that site and type in MM name and you'll find the program. It's really very simple plan, isn't it? On our "fast" days, we try and have a little protein with lots of veggies. We still have to watch to make sure we don't go over 500 for me 600 for DH. On the other five days, we are finding that we don't want to eat as much as before. We were able to keep off the weight we lost during the first two fast days. We'll see what happens this week. Thanks again for the input.

It's been two weeks and 2 days and we're dong great. My DH has lost 6 pounds and I've lost 4. It's really quite easy, and we're generally not as hungry on the days we're eating normally. So far, so good.

Thanks for your encouragement Peelout. I'm with a private group of three, and I don't really follow a team. So our posts can't be read. So I'll just post here. We weighed this morning and my DH has now lost a total of 12 pounds; I've lost 5 and 1/2. I'm gong to modify my normal this week to see if this speeds up my loss.

To date: my husband has lost 13 pounds, I have lost 4. It's working for him, not for me, so far.

Hi Peelout,
I'm the only one in our group who is trying the "Fast Diet." My husband is really eating normally the other five days, but he is more aware of calories, and he is cutting down on junk. I've cut way down on carbs, sugar and junk on the five normal days, sticking to veggies, fruit, protein. On the two "fast" days we eat lots of veggies, small amount of protein, and one fruit.

In our Pt group one woman has lost 70 pounds doing the Fat Smash program and exercise, and the other has lost over 100 pounds working with her doctor and exercise. One left our group; she lost over 100 pounds with bypass surgery. We miss her.

Hi Peelout,
We're back. We didn't "fast" last Monday and Tuesday because we were on vacation. But we did fast this past Monday and Tuesday. My husband has lost a total of 14 pounds. I, on the other hand, lost the same 3 pounds that I have been losing and gaining for the last 4 weeks. I'm going to try and eat more veggies and fruits this week. Maybe that will help.

Greetings. So here's our update. I lost my usual four pounds, so over all loss after two months is four pounds. DH remained the same, so 15 pounds loss over two months. I think he's doing great. This might be a plateau for him. This week I'm going to weigh every day to see exactly where my weight gain occurs, and does it correspond to a certain food to a certain food that I eat. Let the experiment begin!

Update of OP

Here our latest update. I was not able to "have my cake and eat it too," as this plan promised. I have been on a lose three, gain three pound cycle for that last three months. Therefore, I have given up eating sugar as well as wheat, and I eat very little meat, along with eating low calories (700 not 500) for two days a week. Finally I'm beginning to lose weight. My DH, on the other hand, is doing quite well on the "Fast Diet." He had been on a plateau for the last month, and finally he is beginning to lose again. So he has indeed be able to "have his cake and eat it too." I think I might be insulin resistant; therefore, I needed to take a narrow approach to this plan. So that's it. We will stick with it.
