1) Just like in "real life," don't take it personally if people in your group don't respond the way you would like them to. Either find a new group(s) or communicate your expectations.
2) Don't expect this to be a "silver bullet." You will have to work to lose weight and you will have to change your habits for the rest of your life. This is a tool in that effort.
3) Stay committed! Different people find different aspects of the site useful. When you figure out what is most useful for you--stick with it.

my top 3
1. log every day and log honestly.
I found that once I was completely honest about every little thing that went in my mouth, that's when I stopped taking those little bites! Who wants to write down that they had two teddy grahams??
2. find and/or create a group that you really click with
You want to be with people who understand what you're going through and who will be there to comment on your logs. If you or they aren't commenting, there's no point (and no advantage) of being in a group. Join several groups, if necessary, to get the feedback you need.
3. use the community comments section
If you're having trouble with something and need advice, or if you've accomplished something great and want to share it with others - the community is a great place to post. You get feedback from everyone that way!
