DVD Workouts?

I'd love to talk to people who do most of their working out at home via DVD or something similar - I find that I can't really afford a gym membership, and even when I had one I couldn't really fit it into my day easily because by the time I left work the last thing I wanted to do was go to the gym!

I'm using a customized DVD program called Push right now, and would love to talk to other people who are using it about their programs, or anybody else who is doing a DVD workout. Maybe we could have a DVD team? The extra support would be great!

I work out exclusively at home. I run or walk outside 5-6x a week, and weight train using The Firm 2-3x a week. I use several of their videos and love them all. I also do Tae Bo sometimes, if it is raining or whatever. I went to some classes during a free trial at a gym and they just didn't compare to the great workout I get at home!

DVD's workouts

Push???? - Kellog has a offer right now for a free 'Push' DVD and I was wondering what that was about. Hadn't heard about it before. Can you tell me more?

The program is pretty cool - I like it a lot for several reasons - one, it's customized to your skill level - I'm set on the beginner one because I am trying to ramp back up into working out regularly, but you can tell the online questionairre that you are more advanced than that. It comes with two training sessions each month (one that you do for one half, one for the other) that you do three times a week, and a cardio workout that you are supposed to do throughout the week as well (you can change this month to month as well). they have different trainer options depending on what you like - i've currently got Bob Harper from Biggest Loser, 'cause I think that's just fun. You can also tell it if you have workout materials at home (weights, etc) and it will work that in, too. (If I'm not explaining well or you have more questions, please ask!)

Try out the free DVD if you can! I think you'll like it!

Using DVDs &/o VHS

I work out exclusively at home following Steve Ross on Inhale, Denise Austin, and a variety of DVDs. I work out 6 days a week. I care for an invalid parent and while Gym membership is nice, it is too expensive and time consuming. I do not have the time to drive back and forth. I find that friends who do are less consistent about their workout routines as various errands or daily events intervene.

Denise Austin's Standing Pilates DVD is a really good pilates DVD.

Gym memberships ARE really expensive - part of me doesn't understand why they think it is okay to charge so much money, when there are usually other fees involved later on anyway. i was so frustrated gym membership shopping that i just gave up.

i wonder if we could form an all-dvd team or something? i wonder if there would be interest in that kind of thing. i like talking about my program that i'm on currently, and about the challenges of trying to work out in a small apartment, and equipment and all that kind of thing.

Pilates and Yoga

Pilates and yoga do not require much equipment. I had a stationary cycle, hand weights, and a mat and stayed in good shape in a 5 foot X 6 foot living area,.

I love DVD workouts!!!

When I had my baby last July, it was so hard for me to get back to the gym. All of sudden I had no time. Juggling a baby a 13yr old, and a husband who's want's his dinner asap left me to DvD's. I am a fiend, I have the Firm, Taebo, Cathy Fredericks, Carribean work out, and my ultimate fav (Turbo Jam!!)
I am up and in my living room by 4:00 am or no later than 4:15.

I find this is the perfect time!! Everyones a sleep!!!

My Push program actually factors in what kind of equipment you have - you can check boxes when you fill out the form telling if you have weights, a mat, etc. They also send you resistance bands with the DVD so you can use them during the workouts, which is especially helpful when you don't have a lot of workout equipment at home . I too have a pretty small apartment and don't have the space to buy thigns like a treadmill or whatever. i really appreciate that kind of flexibility!
