Slim-Fast versus Store Brand
I really love my Slim-Fast shakes in the morning but compared to the store brand the powder is SO EXPENSIVE!!! I have checked the nutritional info and they are pretty much identical, so I was wondering if anyone has noticed any difference. Does store brand generally taste as good? Does it thicken as nicely?

I have used both when I've been working and rather than skipping lunch due to time issues -- I've consumed a Slim Fast or Diet drink from Wal-Mart. The only thing I have noticed is that Slim-Fast has a more sugary taste and is more expensive than the others. And, in fact, I now prefer the store brand to Slim-Fast, especially if it is any flavor other than chocolate.

I haven't used the powders, but I've bought both Slim Fast in the can as well as Target brand. I liked the Target brand alot. They obviously don't have as wide a variety of flavors, but they're much cheaper. I really like the French Vanilla.

The store brand ones are also good if you mix them with some frozen fruit - if they don't thicken as well, the fruit helps "bulk it up" somewhat. I've also added some FF yogurt as well to make it more like a smoothie. I'm not a big milk-drinker, so that helps me get in some extra calcium.
