I am planning on ordering fish and salad and that is it, I am really hungry right now, I just had some yogurt, so I hope to come back tonite and say that I ate what I meant to.

Try and drink a lot of water, so it fills you up and you do not over eat! :)

I don't know if this is your situation, but for me, going out with the family means that my parents will pick up the check. I use that as an excuse to order a more-expensive dish than I'd usually want to spend, and I try to make it seafood - shrimp, crab, or some kind of fish (not cooked in butter!) That way, I feel like I'm indulging, but really, I do well calorie-wise.

Also if there's a lighter soup offered consider that. Soup is usually really good on calories (unless it's cream-based) and helps you feel more satisfied. Works much better than water for me (I think because it's hot and I equate that to 'filling').
