Interesting Foods

Okay, I thought I might start a thread for foods we find interesting....

I just discovered "Weetabix" - an Organic British cereal-- Kind of like a small biscuit of compressed wheat flakes-- tastes a little like the bran flakes in Raisin Bran. :-) I smear a little organic peanut butter and organic apricot jam and it tastes good, has high fiber and also some protein. (Of course, it's high in carbs, too, but I only eat 1 biscuit at a time, so it's not as much an issue for me.)

Has anyone else had these? What do you think?

I like harusame noodles - they're japanese noodles made with sweet potato flour. They're similar in taste & texture to other thin japanese noodles, but lower in carbs. I found them at the international Farmer's Market near me - the packaging was all in Japanese (except for the sticker with the nutritional info), but I figured out from the internet what they were and how to cook them.

I have really been enjoying the meat substitute called Quorn (also from England originally). It's VERY chicken-like. It's made from a mycoprotein... closest comparison is a mushroom. It comes in tenders, patties, cutlets and nuggets, so it's pretty versatile.

Hey, I *love* wheetabix, have been hooked on it for ages (see my log for proof). Also, quorn, great stuff; haven't had it in a long time, so thanks for reminding me to go get some for dinner soon! Best, -gdoodle

My husband loves weetabix and buys them whenever he finds them. He eats them as a cereal with milk. I've had them a couple of time and also find them quite nice but since i'm not such a fan of milk I don't indulge like he does.
