Newbie question about chatting/logging

I joined PT two days ago and joined a number of groups and teams. Do I have to log and or chat in each one separately, or is there a way to write to all of them at the same time? I'm looking forward to your answers. Thanks.

you log once and it shows up in all your groups and teams. The conversations you have in different groups and teams are all separate. You can even whisper to people.

when you write your comment, you will see a dropdown menu that allows you to make the comment for everyone or for just one member

Be careful with that whisper feature. It is easy to make a mistake and post publicly. Also, some recipients don't realize that the message was private and they will answer publicly, embarrassing everyone involved.

Oh...so the whisper is private. I thought it was public, just written in italics! I was a bit confused and stopped using it!

This can be confusing. Every group does things it's own way. One group really communicated a lot in their logs, my regular group just posts messages for each other in the comments section. Most groups are fairly quiet, some are very wordy. It took me awhile of trying different groups to find one I like, so try lots and be a member of several you like, if you prefer.
