Partial Hunger Strike???

Give me a break. This group is advocating hunger strikes "even for a few hours." That's not a REAL hunger strike. We are such a nation of lightweights.

It's just a form of protest, and they're trying to be all-inclusive about it. I think it's more of a symbolic gesture.

A real hunger strike only makes sense if you are in some sense in the care of the people whose authority you are are opposing (e.g. if you are imprisoned in guantanomo or some such). In that case you death in custody will be seen by many as the responsibility of your captors, and could cause some kind of popular uprising (e.g. Ghandi's hunger-strike).

Umm... the actual members of the group are in their 25th day of a hunger strike. They were asking others to show solidarity to their cause by doing what they could personally do, not necessarily what they have devoted themselves to doing.

it sounds like you take the protesters seriously. There are very few protesters, other than Barbara Streisand of course, that I take seriouly anymore. No sense of style. Have you seen the horrendous tanktops that the code pink people wear? u g l y. And what are they accomplishing? Nothing except reinforcing the view of a bunch of crazy people protesting the actions of another bunch of crazy people.
