weightloss retreat

hello PTers! does anyone know of a weightloss retreat on the East coast? My friend (in PA) and I (in CO) are thinking about going to one. We're hoping to find one that has a natural and/or wholistic approach and can accomodate a vegetarian (me). Any thoughts or ideas on this would are appreciated. Thank you.

Kripalu!

They have some amazing programs. It's in Western, MA and just gorgeous. It's not nearly as earthy-crunchy as it used to be. When I first went (2 years ago) I was a little worried. I do a lot of yoga but I am definitely NOT a new-age type. I was completely comfortable there.

Until recently, their food was only vegetarian (and soooo healthy!). Even as a carnivore, I was disappointed that they added meat to their menu offerings (even if limited). I think they've been trying to be more competitive with the uber-expensive Canyon Ranch nearby (which is too bad, IMHO).

The grounds are just gorgeous and in addition to yoga you can bike, hike, canoe, swim (lake nearby). They have bodywork like massage, reiki, etc., daily workshops, evening programs (some was a little too hokey for me). A great big whirlpool, some indoor fitness equipment. Lenox, MA is right nearby if you need a coffee fix (no caffeine at Kripalu). Tanglewood is close for live outdoor music during the summer.

Can you tell that I highly recommend it? Plus, they have a variety of programs to choose from, some for weight loss, special yoga instruction, but also just plain old R&R and you could do your own program.

Rancho La Puerta

Rancho La Puerta is heaven on earth. I was there for the fourth time last month. You really cannot do better. It' s worth the credit card debt to go.
