Rough Guide to Calculating Points?

Does anyone know a good way of counting points in their head, sort of a shortcut if I am not near my computer?

Not sure what you mean... do you have a hard time remembering how many points you have eaten that day or how many points certain foods have?

If you can't remember your day's total, could you carry a piece of paper with you that you write down as you go?

If you are going out to eat, could you check the menu online first and decide what to order and write down how many points that is beforehand?

Weight Watcher's makes a points guide that you could carry with you. I think one point is roughy 50-100 calories, depending on the nutritional value of the food. Eventually you will memorize how many points/calories certain foods are and start to be able to gauge portion sizes.
