WTF!? Stupid foods you love to hate

I mentioned this in my group earlier today and thought that the PT community would enjoy contributing something to this as well.....

Ok- so what food "invention" just makes you sick?

My favorite food to hate are those frozen PB&J sandwiches by Smuckers. I mean come on! You're really *that* strapped for time that you need to choose the frozen, highly processed, crust-less PB&J sandwich from a box!?

Fruit roll-ups. Frankenfood at its worst. If I wanted to eat plastic, I'd gnaw on a ziploc bag.

I wanted to hate the pre-sliced apples with a bit of fake lemon to keep them from yellowing, but my niece loves them. So if it enables more kids to eat fruit, then how can I hate?

I hate trans fats. It's this man-made, completely synthetic fat that some jerk invented just so that people wouldn't have to stir their peanut butter up. Trans fats keep things solid and preserved on the shelf forever, imagine what they do when they hang out all solid in your arteries....

to poster 6:34-- if you think friut loops look scary when they come out of the box.....

I was able to tour the Malt-o-Meal cereal factory and got to see how they make their fruit loop knock offs-- the dye that is used to get them that color is flourensent! Even on the concrete floor (it was leaking out of the tubes going to the machines)- It was so gross!!!!! Ever since I saw that I will never be able to eat colored cereal again!!!

bottled water,

what the hell is wrong with most water from the faucet? Get a plastic container or thermos and save yourself some money.

12:13 a.m. poster - you're lucky to live in a place where the water doesn't taste like chemicals. The water fountain in my office building smells like a swimming pool, they use so much chlorine to treat our water. It's gross.

I hate a lot of strawberry-flavored things - most of them taste nothing like real strawberries!!

inedible frozen dinners... i have had ones that taste decent, even good! We have proof that it is possible to create a frozen meal... WTF is there STILL a market for these frozen piles of trash.

frozen dinners. Anything that is frozen in cardboard and then microwaved in cardboard I find disgustingly unnatural. I find deli meat rather gross- not because of the actual meat and meat by products, but because of all the sugars and starches that are in there. I hate that corn derivatives are in almost everything, I hate that wheat is in so many "foods". And while I admit it was great melted on toast, cheesewhiz is still kinda gross...

If you drink tap water your risk for getting bladder cancer is increased by 50%. Where do you live? I have never heard of anyone thinking that drinking from the tap is money saving. With all the health risks I think it would be more expensive in the long run.
The worst thing about bottled water is the plastic container it is packaged in. The plastic becomes one with the water in the bottle and you end up drinking a whole different set of chemicals. I always put my RO water that I buy into #7 containers. They are safe.
As to the thread question I think all processed foods whether frozen, boxed, or canned are horrible. How hard is it to eat fresh food!

well, then I am gonna get bladder cancer! Cause I drink tap water all the time, bottled too.

I got way more diseases to worry about than bladder cancer, cause I drink tap water sometimes, my water in the town is pretty clean anyway, and my family grew up on tap water, and everyone is healthy, also when I was living on a ranch in CO, we drank from the hose!

Hey, so long as you're actually DRINKING the water, you're doing better than most of the populace, who runs around in a state of chronic dehydration!

"Processed cheese food" aka Velveeta. Does anyone really KNOW what that is even?? Oh yes, let's not forget cheap ice cream, the type that doesn't even look different when it melts. Nope, no chemicals there!

pickled eggs and pickled pig's feet in those big jars. Yuck. Would NEVER eat that. It's not an invention I suppose but gross none the less. Also pork rinds those those became popular with the low carb diets. I know most people love those but yeck.

The individually wrapped portions of meat-- like hot dogs and sandwich meat.

Is it really that hard to grab one and seal up the rest of the package?
