Speaking of Apples

Well the season is almost upon us and I can't wait. I am absolutely spoiled because now I won't eat any other apple. Honeycrisps are coming soon, yeah! If you've never tried one you must they are the most awesome apples ever. They are juicy, sweet and tastes like honey mixed with apples. You must try them. Believe me you will be hooked.

ahhh, you clearly have not had a crisp, semi-tart Paula Red. I have one in my hand, a box arrived yesterday from my "connection" in Vermont.

A box??? I just picked some Paula Reds fresh off the tree at our nearby orchard. Yes, they are delicious, but so are Honey Crisp. They are completely different apples. P.R. are excellent for cooking but Honey Crisp are just good for eating (correct??). Yeah Apple season!!!!

I also have fallen for Honeycrisps - mmmmmm

As a dessert around this time of year I'll have apples with sugar-free caramel sauce - so yummy!

I am the OP. To the safeway poster. Safeway usually carries Honeycrisps when they are in season. They are becoming more popular. I have never tried a Paula Red, I must seek these out. I used to eat my apples with something as well but upon tasting a honeycrisp I honestly can't imagine anything covering up the flavor. Damn I'd be good for marketing this apple, lol.

Can anyone send me some Cortlands (cooking apples)? I moved to a part of the country where I'm sure I won't be able to get them.

Yay for fall in New England!

I love pink lady and empire. I just got some golden crisp apples at Trader Joe's which were fabulous too.

I'm in love with JAZZ apples. They are very sweet and crisp. I was just thinking of apples this morning as I ate one and wondered how others taste. I've heard that red delicious are like the least delicious. I can't wait to find a honeycrisp. I think apples are my new favorite snack but I love a little peanut butter with mine. I don't bring out the whole jar (that woud be dangerous). I just scoop out a tablespoon or so. Makes a nice snack or even a good breakfast.

I just went to the orchard yesterday and picked one peck of Cortlands, one peck of Paula Reds and one peck of Honey Crisp. They are all delicious (for different reasons), but the Paulas and Cortlands were about $14/peck and the Honey Crisps were almost $23/peck. Worth every penny though!!! :)

I never like apples until I tried the honeycrisps. They are simply amazing! Juicy, sweet and with a hint of honey. I can't wait to get my hands on some more. If only I could ppick some fresh but no one around here grows them.

I live in CA and am going to CT for a family thing in a couple of days! Now I really can't wait to get some APPLES while I'm there! Hubby is taking me to an apple farm there...

I'm a Pink Lady girl, myself... if you can get some of those, you will be in apple heaven...

You know that there's something in the apple skin that decreases your appetite? Wow! They're a super food!
