CHEESE!

I love cheese on everything. Any suggestions for low cal cheeses?

I use part skim mozzarella to get a cheese fix. It's great on salads!

Cheese suggestions

Try using stronger and hard cheeses like parmesan, romano, sharp cheddar. They have more flavor and you need less. Try to stay away from the soft cheeses like mozzarella as much as possible. You will be tempted to use more since the flavor is lighter.

I've heard that white cheese is better than yellow, but I have no source.

I think most yellow cheeses are yellow because they've been dyed. I'm pretty sure about this for cheddar...not as sure for the others. But I also have no source.

Laughing Cow is awesome! It's spreadable swiss, and comes individually wrapped in wedges - the Light is only 35 calories per wedge! It is very rich too! You can spread it on wasa crackers, low carb bagels, etc. Or just eat it plain - very rich that way! It feels like a special treat because it's soooo good!!

mmm...Laughing Cow. I love those "bites", too, or whatever they call them - the little tiny cubes of cheese. I eat just one of those when I'm craving a snack and it's rich enough that I don't keep going back for more (or maybe it's that the package is already back in the fridge, unlike block cheese that I have to cut...)

Ah Laughing Cow, I have been eating that since I was a kid, my gramma always had that. Since the whole low carb craze I notice it has become popular again. It is a great cheese. I never tried it in an omlett, I bet that is awesome, I will try it this morning I think. Another good cheese is the low fat jarlesburg 70 calories and good flavor, theres an Irish white hard cheese out there that is great too. And don't forget the mini babybel (semi soft you peel from the wax, in several different flavors now) thats always great! Heres something I recently tried, low fat ricotta w/ a little dark chocolate melted into it, what a yummy treat.

cheese

White is the proper colour of cheese since it IS made with cream or milk.
Colouring is added for presentation so it's up to you whether you think the colouring is bad for you. Margarine is also coloured along with a lot of other stuff we eat.

Laughing Cow cheese

I didn't realize only one of those wedges is only 35 cal for the light stuff.
I've loved that since I was a kid (I admit I'm middle-aged now)! Didn't have light then, but I like it for a treat just by itself! Forget the crackers. Enjoy the taste by itself.
Creamy comfort food.

low cal cheese suggestions

I use low cal cheese on everything as I love cheese. You can use in homemade cheese sauce, instead of salad dressing (yuck) grate some on your favourite salad, spaghetti, omelettes, homemade pizza, anything you want.
