Yes. I believe this is the only thing I like about the winter.

to the op:

have you tried the new kinds of skis, the ones that are wider in the front and back? I'm still on my old ones. Would like a recommendation if you have one.

The wider skis really make it easier to turn, esp in chunky conditions. There is more surface area to float on. If you keep them sharp, it will hold an edge on ice better as well.

The hourglass-shaped ones won't hold on ice at all, in my experience. On a very hard surface there's practically no point of edge contact where your foot is.

YESSSS! l was a ski instructor for the past 5 yrs...before i finished college and entered the real world..so i can't wait! lake tahoe here i come :)

[i also switched from the old style straight skis to the shaped style... in my opinion the shaped on allow sharper turners and easier carving, but i'm not convinced that i like them on moguls yet.]

They have workouts now at gyms that are "get ready for ski season" workouts. They start right about now if you look around.

Colorado got 2 feet of snow yesterday, and Vail has several feet of snow on the ground already. Nov 17th is opening day.
