OT - libido and meds

Does anyone else have decreased libido due to medication they're taking? I'm on 4 different meds, all of which are 100% necessary, but all have the side-effect of lowering the sex-drive. To be completely honest, I could probably go without sex altogether. I try very hard to make sure I'm not letting my partner down. And when we have sex, I enjoy it. But when I'm tired, it's the last thing I feel like. The chances of me being able to come off the meds (or even change them) are very slim.

Actually, I don't think I even have a question that needs answering :-) I guess I'm just venting a bit.

i experienced the same libido issue and after not taking meds for almost 2 years now, still not interested...in fact, i'm kind of grossed out by the notion...very different than before the meds.

It probably happens more often than the official drug labeling indicates, because it's the sort of thing some people won't report.
The book "How You Can Survive When They're Depressed" (Anne Sheffield et al) says that in depression support groups, almost everyone on antidepressants reports major loss of libido. I know one of my relatives has had this happen.
I imagine it happens with some other drugs too, but the psych related drugs seem especially problematic that way.

I had a similar problem while on Prozac but switched to Lexapro and voila my libido is back!

i am on celexa, which is similar to lexapro, and while my sex drive is better than when i was on paxil, it still kind of sucks. thats scary that someone said that 2 years after going off them the libido is still not there... i keep telling myself that whenever i feel ready to go off them that my sex drive will magically reappear. lol i wish.

Does depo affect anyone the same way? I took it about 2 years ago, for 2 years and have little sex drive.

OP here. Yesterday I was feeling really down. I went for a long walk to get the endorphins going, and jumped my partner when he got home. I really didn't feel like it, but voila - enjoyed it, and felt much better afterward. Need to do that more.

Thanks for the comments - nice to know I'm not alone :-)

a lot of meds get one down. Long walks work wonders for me as well.
