Stressful Weight Gain

My husband and I just got seperated and the months leading up to the seperation were anything but pleasant. Never before have I turned to food as a comfort but this time around I did!
Any suggestions on what to do???
I have gained 20 pounds in 3 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so close to my target and now I feel so far away. Not to mention my overall self worth has dropped. Please help.

First of all, I'm sorry to hear that you're currently going through such a difficult situation. Secondly, it should boost your self-worth just realizing that you've put on weight, but are looking for ways to improve yourself. Just taking that step is something big so congrats to you on jumping back on the wagon! Now from the way you've talked it seems as though you've lost weight before. My suggestion would be to revert back to those old habits that helped you to lose weight the first time. Also, I would try to find another way to express your emotions rather then eating, such as: journaling, finding a good therapist, having a weekly rant session with a friend, working out instead of eating, or keeping only good foods around so that if you do feel the need to eat your emotions for a while you do it with grapes or apples or something else... good luck to you!
