coffee and weight loss?

On a scale of things to eliminate from your diet to help you lose weight, how important is getting rid of coffee. And is it the caffiene in the coffee or is the sweetner/creamer addition that makes it deadly?

Coffee has 9 calories per cup.
Skim milk has 90 calories per cup. Let's not even get into whole milk or cream!!

My personal experience is that drinking coffee (mornings only, 3 8-oz cups each w/ 1/3 c skim milk) has not impeded my weight loss at all. It wakes me up and is full of antioxidants -- why would I want to give it up?

i don't think coffee has anything to do with weight loss hindrance. you can have everything in moderation as long as you account for it in your diet. yes too much sweetner/cream make the calories add up-but you can control what you put into it.

i've lost 50lbs by eating well and exercising-and while i'd like to give up coffee at some point since i know the caffine isn't great for me . . . i haven't had any trouble losing weight and i drink coffee every morning.

I disagree somewhat with the 1:02 poster; caffeine has been shown to help fight Alzheimer's, with moderation.

While I don't think it's good to be addicted to anything, such as needing a caffeinated drink to get going, research doesn't suggest that it's good to eliminate it.

A cup of black coffee in the middle of the afternoon will often stave off my hunger until I can eat a healthy dinner, so coffee has been a help to my diet, not a hurt.
