Kickstarting the Routine

After taking too long of a break, or falling out of my cyclical work out regimen, I never know whether to opt for shock therapy going back in, or to ease my way back in. By shock therapy I mean hitting it hard, something like high school 2 a days with an army diet. Or is it better to start with two days a week, light workouts and ease into harder ones? Any advice?

The problem with kickstarting is that you risk injury and possible burn-out. A good approach would be to try to come up with a reasonable food plan for the week (including snacks and treats) and stick to the workout schedule you intend to follow from here on out - starting at a lower intensity and working your way up. It's generally better to be consistent than to try to be too ambitious and find you can't sustain that level of effort, get discouraged and quit. Slow and steady wins the race.

Best wishes no matter how you intend to approach your goals!
