You On a Diet!

Has anyone read the book? What did you think? I'm trying to decide if it is worth buying. I've reached my weight loss goal and am now trying to concentrate on healthy eating for a healthy body - not just losing weight I understand this book has good insight on that. Any thoughts?

I like the idea, but as a pear-shaped woman, I am not sure I buy the waist thing. I mean, my waist measures 29 inches, but I weigh 163 lbs (at 5'7"). I feel I need to lose another 20 lbs. to feel and look my best. I don't think that the measurements should be across the board. I mean, I know I'm less at risk for certain health complications, but I guess I'm not comfortable with being told that I'm ok this way, when I know I'm not as fit as I need to be.

11:16 poster-i could see you being uncomfortable if they told you that you were "unhealthy" w/ a measurement of 29inches at your height and weight, but you aren't being comfortable being told that you are okay? i understand that most of us are unhappy w/ our bodies and always feel there is room for improvement, while you may want to lose more weight to look/feel better, at 5ft 7in-163 lbs certainly is within healthy parameters. we could always be more fit, but don't knock that you are healthy!

As it describes in the book-if you carry a lot of fat around your waist, you are sufficating your organs including your heart. That's why is healthier to carry your extra weight in your lower half (no organs). Get it? I am also pear-shaped with a 29" waist at 5'-7 and 155 lbs. Sure, I need some work, but it's nice to know that I'm healthy. Read the book for yourself.

labels

I bought the book and what i like about Dr. oz is he is healthy to begin with , (some famous people promote weight loss plans who are heavy themselves and just out to get money). He is a cardiologist so he know how what we eat and do effects our insides. He promotes reading labels. It is a simple extra step that helps with food before you get it onto the house. ie cheerios is better for you than special K.
