Polar Fitness Watch

I recieved a gift, that I also requested for Christmas called a Polar Fitness Watch. It monitors the heart rate and tracks workouts, as well as records goals and monitors steps towards them. Does anyone have one or any suggestions on their use?

I've got one for Christmas too, which I also requested, but haven't quite got to reading the instructions and using it yet - but hope to over the weekend. So, I'll also be checking this thread for advice and will get back to you once I suss it out. Let me know if you start using it and have any advice as well.

I've had one for 7 years! It's still working. I don't know about all of the little tools, mine is standard, has some of the cool stuff but I never bothered to figure out how to work everything. I used it mainly to monitor my heartrate and was able to increase my running stamina and cardiovascular in a significant way. Prior to my monitor, I could only run for 20 minutes, now I can go for 40 - 45 minutes. I don't know how I worked out before it! What a great gift.

I've have had a Polar heart monitor for a couple of years. The only problem is it does not keep an accurate pulse in real time. When I am in my target range (140's) the watch reads in the 90's. However, after exercising, when I look at the review of my workout, it calculates the actual heart rate (average, high and calories consumed are accurate). Have never figured out why it does that.

Thanks 7.52 - that was a useful thread to check out too. Yes, I must figure out how to use mine this weekend, I think it'll be another help with the motivation.
