or not. i have my own personal group, just me, and i log in when i can. it is a step up from NOT logging anything ever!! as you get more used to logging in and pay more attention to what you eat and where your weak points are, you will probably know what kind of advice or support you will benefit most from. that is when i suggest you look for a group that meets your needs. when i was new, i joined a couple groups, but the other members complained that i was not active enough and left the groups. and so i became a group of one. i felt pretty bad that i wasn't "doing it right", or that i still was not ready for this journey, this new lifestyle. for me personally, it was not the best idea to jump in and join groups that had been very active and expected the same twice daily input from me. there is a place here for everyone and with a little trial and error, you will find your place and the support you need to succeed. good luck and welcome!!

Joining a group is the most important thing. People read what you do and there's nothing like coming in and seeing praise for your day. Nothing like it I've ever seen in my experience in losing weight. Definitely do it.

Don't forget to look up "teams" as well. They are traditionally larger and consiquently (sp?) more active than a "group's " limit of four. I don't even bother with groups. I like having the support of lots of people. I wouldn't have gotten nearly as much out of PT if I'd only logged with myself, though. I've made some amazing "cyber-friends" that I would have missed out on.

hey. i am the poster who suggested getting comfortable on the site before joining any groups. i don't suggest going it alone. merely that if you join a group without a lot of insight about how often people want you to log in, you may find yourself feeling unliked or not responsive enough to belong. i say this because that was MY experience. it was a while before i found this area of the site, the forum section, and once i did, i was able to gather a lot of info regarding how often other members logged in and what they logged, and WHY, and the results people have found. i am someone who has not had to watch my weight for over 20 years, then gained over 40 lbs from a medication i had to take. keeping track of my food intake was foreign to me. seeing how others succeeded by doing so helped me to understand how important it is. but i was not ready, personally, to jump in with both feet and log every day at first. as i said before, i disappointed the other group members who wanted a fourth member that would log often about everything. i'm just sharing my experience so the new comer will see more than one way to begin to participate on this site. maybe she/he is also like me and is not ready to commit enough time yet to satisify some groups' members. if that is the case, i just wanted to provide some experiential advice. best wishes!

Teams are great, But the most important thing is to log, in my experience.

Weigh Watchers

Hi. Welcome. I joined this group a few minutes ago.
I was happy to see the subject was emotional eating since I have such an issue with overeating when I'm stressed or anxious about something.
I'm planning to follow the Weight Watchers' program? I had success in the past.
I look forwarding to hearing back from you.

honestly log everything you eat....do it for a week and look back at it....might surprise you....then move forward from there making the necessary adjustment....and be realistic...if you want that piece of cake...have a small amount because if you don't you'll eat everything else then it the piece of cake too...also water water water....strongly suggest room temp water...ice water can make you pee more....and try to do some form of exercise everyday...even if it's taking the stairs at work...parking further away...taking a 10-20 minute work...something...

Someone may have already told you this, but there's a team for people that are new to PEERTrainer - and its moderated, which means someone from customer care comes in and can answer your questions and give you advice. could be a good place for you to start.

I was a little tentative about joining groups at first, but it's really a great thing to be in a supportive group of people who communicate, support, encourage and help each other. I learned so much from my group members and hopefully I've been able to give back too. If you don't click with a group, try again. I haven't joined a team yet, but I'm strongly considering it now.

But no matter what I wholeheartedly agree with the comments about logging. Even without conciously trying, you'll find yourself making little changes (that really add up) after looking back saying "I ate that?" Just knowing I have to write it down and face up it to helps me make better decisions.

Good luck, we're all together in this adventure.

I just started too. Looking for an active group. So far, mine has been slow.
